Hotel y Restaurante El Ciruelo

The rooms look beautiful, but at this price I expected more comfort. There was no AC, and it was very hot. Even with the fan running, we couldn't cool the room down at night. The hotel staff are the only ones who can manage the hot tub, and the water was quite cold, so I didn't get in. We hoped to use it again the next morning, but they hadn't drained the bath from the night before. Breakfast also costs extra. We signed the bill at the table, then when we paid they added a 15% tip by hand after we'd signed. The standard tip in Mexico is 10%, which made that especially disappointing. Apple Pay wasn't accepted for the credit card payment either, so you need to bring the physical card.

The jaiba and plantains stuffed chipotles with cilantro sauce, then the brisket enchiladas, made for a whole symphony of flavors. This is the best Mexican cuisine I've tried, easily Michelin Star class. Dulce Patria used to be my number one, but this restaurant has taken that spot. THIS IS MEXICAN FOOD at its very best.

For me, this is Tepoztlan's best restaurant. The view of the tepozteco in the background is unmatched. We ordered a few lunch dishes, and the mole was really good, as were the guacamole and starters.

We came for a late-afternoon meal and enjoyed excellent food with friendly, attentive service. The terrace was closed, but the garden is beautiful and has a gorgeous mountain view. We tried several menu items, and everyone was impressed. Highly recommended!
