City Express Suites by Marriott Tijuana Rio

The room had big windows that let in lots of daylight, plus a refrigerator, microwave, stove, and utensils. Luis the concierge was a delight. I had a wonderful stay.

I paid for a specific suite and was given the opposite of what I booked. The receptionist said they couldn’t change anything based on the reservation, even though the booking was for exactly what I wanted. Asking for the manager was pointless because they weren’t available. I’m never coming back.

A good option if you just need somewhere simple to stay. The suites have a fridge, microwave, and sink, which makes it possible to put together small meals instead of going out. My room was clean and what I expected. It isn’t a fancy place.

The rooms and building are new, but the customer service was HORRIFIC. At check-in, the employee said my room would be ready in 10 minutes. Forty minutes later, she said she had no idea when it would be ready. I asked for an estimate, and the staff laughed among themselves, saying they were waiting for the cleaner to reply, while also saying they didn’t want to call her. That was extremely unprofessional, especially from a “manager,” and my two kids were waiting with me. I finally took them out to eat instead of waiting for the staff to feel like giving us a room. When we got back to the parking lot, the security guard had “disappeared,” and I was stuck at the gate until he eventually came back. Now I’m on my third call asking for blankets, pillows, and a crib. It’s been five hours since check-in, and at this point I strongly suspect they’re doing it on purpose. The lack of service is a joke. Stay somewhere else.
