Hotel Villas de Santiago Inn

The listing says the place is pet friendly, but when I called, they told me my cats weren't allowed.

I won't stay here again and recommend avoiding it for your own safety. I paid 500 MX for four hours, but after just one hour a man came demanding another 200 MX. He seemed angry that I'd paid the extra money to the woman at the window instead of to him. It gave me the impression of family infighting and dysfunction at the hotel. I always tip well, but this man was a poor representative, and it's hard to know what he might be capable of.

Some of these reviews seem pretty far off. For the price, this place is great, if you understand what you're paying for. The staff are very friendly, I felt completely safe, and the location is spectacular if you want to see the real Mexico instead of tourist hotspots. The neighborhood seems pretty safe if you're street smart and respectful of the area and its residents. Best for adults and couples.

We lost the money we paid for two nights and left the state instead of staying. The sheets were disgusting, and the second room we tried was even nastier than the first. We asked for clean sheets but never got them. When we were going out to get food, they said we had to leave our room key with them while all our things stayed inside. I refused. My husband didn't want to leave me alone in the room, and we felt like they were trying to separate us. There wasn't even a window where I could see my car or whether anyone was coming, though several empty rooms had parking lot views. We felt the situation was a setup. I felt awful bringing my young daughter there. This isn't somewhere a decent person would stay, even for one night. You might leave with a rash. Bring your own sheets if you go. There's no nightclub or restaurant on the property, despite the advertising. It's less than a two star hotel.
