The quiet, secluded setting is a big part of the appeal, though there isn’t much to do nearby unless you drive to Merida. The surrounding pueblitos have few activities, and finding food was tricky since places often shut early or showed as open on Google when they were actually closed. Inside, you can see the care that went into restoring the Hacienda. Period furniture fits naturally with the architecture, and the meals we had, breakfast and dinner, were delicious. Jesus, Dulce & Don Angel welcomed us with warm smiles. We spent two weeknights there as the only guests, which made the stay feel special, but two nights still wasn’t enough to take in all the beauty. The grounds and hacienda buildings were magnificent, and the heated pool was a lovely touch. Our room in the main house was comfortable and convenient. We ate very well throughout our two-night stay: the made-to-order breakfast included in the rate was outstanding both mornings, and both dinners and our lunch were great too. Jesus, Dulce, Luz and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make things enjoyable. My wife and I found it perfect from beginning to end, one of our favorite places we’ve stayed, and we highly recommend it.

The Premium Room is huge, with plenty of space to sit indoors, and we enjoyed our three days and two nights here in mid January 2025. It’s a separate villa. The king bed is very, very firm. There are two bathrooms with hot water for showers, though no bath, along with several ceiling fans and partitioned doors that let air through. There’s decent Wi-Fi, but no TV or air conditioning. We didn’t use the nice-sized pool because the weather wasn’t cooperating. There was just one other couple staying at the Hacienda, and lots of room to wander or throw or kick a ball, or run laps if you wanted. Jesus was outstanding, always smiling and ready to help, almost like a concierge. Speaking Mexican/Spanish helps, though Google Translate can be a great friend. A car is best, but we got there by Uber from Merida. When we left, Jesus arranged a mototaxi to Tixkokob Train Station, and we got back to Merida from there. Tixkokob is 5 km away, and it’s the only nearby place with restaurants. Optional dinner costs $52USD per person, which felt overpriced for what you get. Overall, a really great place to stay.
