City Express Plus by Marriott Guadalajara Palomar

A really good experience overall. The hotel was clean and in a great spot, though the rooms were a little small.

I booked this in a hurry for a supplier visit in Guadalajara, and it was the only hotel I could find. I expected more from a Marriot Bonvoy property and came away disappointed. The rooms were very tiny, and breakfast was below average. I’m a Titanium Elite member and asked for a room on a higher level, but they didn’t understand what I meant. The staff were friendly and tried their best to help, and the rooms were clean.

There are plenty of food options in the plaza. The lobby runs too cold, and sometimes rambunctious boys take it over. I could use more closet and drawer space, and the A/C isn’t flexible: if you want the room warmer than 24, you can’t turn it on. They wouldn’t give me extra pillows. Hardly “lujo casual,” but it was okay.

Repeated power cuts, poor service, and housekeeping that seemed neglected made for a disappointing stay. As a frequent traveler with Marriott Titanium Elite status, I found it far below the brand’s usual standard, among the worst stays I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend it for business or leisure.
