Hotel Plaza Mis Amores

I’ve been here for 3 days without hearing back from the host. The listing promised a private kitchen and laundry, but there’s no private kitchen, just one shared space for the whole plaza on another floor. It isn’t stocked with pots or pans, and there’s no laundry. The street noise is the worst I’ve ever experienced, even though I travel a lot. Dogs bark constantly, restaurants blast music, and a homeless guy pissed on our car in the parking lot. The place itself is really awful, and I suspect the positive reviews are paid advertisements. I hope this saves someone from making my mistake. Avoid it.

They took us in quickly and kindly when we got caught in the rain and couldn’t drive back to our resort. The TV had several streaming services, which would be perfect if you have kids. The room was a little warm, though it was hot season and very humid that night, so that may not be typical. It’s a cute hotel with modern rooms, cool cement walls, a nicely equipped kitchenette with lovely touches, and a balcony walkway. Loved the plates. There’s a restaurant on the roof.

The apartment was spotless, and the walk into town was a bit longer than we expected, though we should have mapped it. The main problem was the lack of communication from the host. The keys weren’t in the apartment, so we had to track down building staff, and thankfully someone was still there at 3:00. We then had to move to another apartment. Roof access had a fee, and although the listing showed a washer dryer with the other amenities, laundry cost extra. Our clothes were removed from the dryer. There were dogs barking at us as we walked past the building and kept barking into the night.

Good location, clean room and linens, and a comfy bed. Bring a blow dryer, since there isn’t one here. Dogs bark from a neighbor’s property, so light sleepers should pack earplugs. The internet is great, and Netflix is a nice extra.
