Hotel Hacienda Tonalmain, Central Nueva

Yuli was kind and helpful even though I arrived late and hadn't booked ahead. The room was cute and clean. I checked carefully for bed bugs since I'd heard they're common in Guadalajara hotels, and didn't see any. They also use a mattress pad to keep the bed clean. The shower water was nearly freezing, but after two days on the road, even that felt nice.

The staff were really nice and helpful, and the hotel was very clean. Water spills out of the shower, so put a towel on the floor. It's nothing major. They lock the property at 10pm, but you can call and ask them to open it.

The manager and staff were amazingly beautiful and helpful, and the rooms have a lot of charm. Still, it's a long way out of the way and remains under construction, so I'm not sure most Americans would want to stay there yet. The manager's card reader wouldn't work for my room bill, which meant going to an airport exchange service and paying a $5.00 service charge. When the manager couldn't reach the driver, he took me to the airport himself in his work truck. The driver had been sent to pick me up in a badly damaged, creaking, smoking, shaking minivan called a "Private Taxi" for USD$15.00. It was owned by the maid's brother.

The staff were friendly and willing to do their best to help. I'd definitely stay here on my next visit.
