I loved how easy it was to get around the resort on foot. No golf carts needed to reach my room, which suited me, and the beach was lovely even if it was on the small side. There were also several pools. The staff were friendly and helpful, and most spoke English. I’d heard complaints about rooms and was a little wary after reading the negative reviews, but my own accommodations were lovely. I’m not especially picky about food or where I stay, and the food was just fine. I did hear other guests complain about their rooms, though. It’s a quiet place, especially if you’re looking to relax. There’s no partying, things quiet down around 9-9:30 p.m., and alcohol isn’t served before 11 a.m. If you want a party resort, this probably won’t suit you. I appreciated the calm. There’s an upgrade needed to access a certain side of the resort, but that didn’t bother me. My one real downside was having to arrange airport transportation myself. I found a reasonably priced option through airport taxis and would recommend that route. I traveled solo without luggage and had a great stay. Funny how one person’s one-star review can match someone else’s five-star experience.

We couldn’t get a beach chair at any point during our trip. There were very few chairs for a lot of guests, and people saved them overnight with towels or belongings, then left them empty for hours. We asked staff to clear them and were told they would, but nothing happened. We also paid $5,000 for the week and were told we couldn’t use this beach, lounge by that pool, or eat at that restaurant. For an all-inclusive resort, we expected those rights. The room had serious air conditioning problems. On our second morning it was completely soaked. They repaired the AC, but a couple of days later the room next door flooded ours. Staff did wash our clothes and clean the room. I’m disappointed to write this because I had high hopes. We had to change our trip from Cuba for obvious reasons, and the resort asked us to pay another $2,000 on top of the $3,000 we’d already paid for Cuba. We felt stuck, paid, and rebooked assuming it would be worth it. We had a great time at the Reef Coco Beach Resort and Spa and in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, without these issues.

The best part was the setting. I enjoyed getting up each day to watch the sunrise while walking on the beach. The general atmosphere was excellent, but service at the bars and restaurants was just okay, and the food was below par. I expected more authentic Mexican food, but that wasn’t what we got. We booked a Superior Beach front room, but at check-in were given a beachfront room that wasn’t the superior one we’d paid for. The clerk said our booked room wouldn’t be available until Saturday, 2/7/26, and we’d need to check out at noon and wait until 3 p.m. I said we’d keep the room we had. She wasn’t accommodating. On the ride from the front gate to the main hotel, everything was fine, nothing special. The shower glass was covered in water spots, with corrosion on the hinges and holes in the wall where it looked like the glass had been moved several times. I cleaned it myself on day one. The next day, room service didn’t wipe down the glass or the dining table. I tipped the attendant anyway, hoping for better the following day, but that didn’t happen. The AC was loud. I didn’t report it because I didn’t want another disappointment. From the balcony, I could see concrete falling from the ceiling of the next balcony. Before the trip, I called several times with questions about transportation and arrangements for our 34th wedding anniversary. Everyone who answered acted as if they couldn’t speak or understand English. My wife and I were there February 5-9, 2026.

EDIT: It took a while, but the hotel staff helped us get chairs and worked with us to make the rest of the vacation as pleasant as possible. If you run into problems, work with management. It seems they’ll do what they can to improve the rest of your stay. Thanks to the staff who helped us. The original review is below. The layout of this resort is a maze, and there were ants all over the buffet table on our first day. It was also badly understaffed. Everything took ages, from getting drinks and orders to having someone take our order at a restaurant or bar. At lunch in the only restaurant open for the basic package, we were the only table there and the meal still took three hours. Drinks were forgotten for over 15 minutes without any obvious reason, while what looked like two managers in black chatted by the kitchen door. The whole thing was confusing. There were hardly any vegetarian options. It felt like processed ham was added to everything for no reason, then dishes were labeled as if they didn’t contain meat. Drink supplies ran out every day, and there was no bottled beer, only draft. We couldn’t communicate with staff, even though I know some basic Spanish. There weren’t enough chairs to begin with, and the ones available were reserved all morning with nobody sitting in them. So there was nowhere to sit. If I’d paid half the price, I might have had a good experience. It felt like a three-star hotel in Cuba at the price of a five-star Mexican hotel. There’s more I could list, but it would turn into a novel. I absolutely don’t recommend this resort. We tried to switch but couldn’t make it work, so we made plans off-site for the time we had left.

The photos don’t really show how pretty this all-inclusive is. We enjoyed the food and drinks, and the staff were so nice. It’s one of my favorite all-inclusive stays so far, and I thought the price was good. I’d recommend it to couples and families.
