Residencia Gorila

My boyfriend and I booked three nights in April but ended up staying just one. When we looked around before check-in, everything seemed fine, though we couldn't see our room because it was occupied. Once inside, it was unbearably hot. The fan on high didn't help, and even outside was cooler. We hoped the room would cool down overnight, but we were still sweating and miserable. My boyfriend tried sleeping in the hammock outside, where it was cooler. Half an hour later he came back in pain, with fist-size welts all over his back from whatever was in the hammock. We didn't sleep. The next day I told the host we couldn't stay the remaining nights. We explained how uncomfortable it had been and offered to pay for the second night if she could refund the third. She said she'd speak to her boss, and since payment was through PayPal, we thought that would be straightforward. We were told she'd follow up on WhatsApp that day, but after several attempts to reach her, she eventually said there was no way to refund us. This place is a scam. We paid $130 a night for one of our worst experiences. We rebooked at Jardin De La Frida, a hostel in the city, for $60 a night. It had a private room, AC, good water pressure, breakfast in the morning, and great company. Also, I'm surprised nobody has hurt themselves on that rickety staircase and wooden walkway.
