Uxmal Resort Maya

The restaurant had lots of unavailable dishes, and the food was two star at best. The cheesecake was rotten and absolutely awful. The hotel is very outdated, as other people have said. Our bathroom was gross, and the room hadn't been cleaned properly: there was other guests' stuff under the bed and dust everywhere. There's no Wi-Fi in the rooms, which is especially inconvenient in the middle of nowhere. The amenities were terrible too. We had three people but got only two towels, and there was no soap, shampoo, body wash, or anything in the room. It really bugs me when hotels don't provide hand or face towels. There were plenty of guests, so it's not like they couldn't afford to put out a few extra hand towels.

The room had spectacular views of the ruins, and it was clean, but the beds were so hard that we slept badly. The grounds looked ratty compared with similar places, though the pool area itself was pretty. The hot tub was cold. There was no fridge, and I had medication that needed to stay chilled, so I upgraded to a Jr. Suite. That got me a fridge and nothing special beyond that. The front desk guy was great, friendly and helpful. Staff in general were good, and the food was fairly good and reasonably priced. The drinks weren't good.

We found the stay very expensive and disappointing, so I wouldn't recommend it. The rooms need updating. Wi-Fi was available only in the lobby, and when we found there was no A/C in our room, they moved us. Later, we discovered there was no hot water in the shower either. There was a balcony, but no chairs to sit on and enjoy the fresh air. The restaurant was decent, no complaints there.

Richardo Briceño was welcoming, friendly, and excellent. He spoke perfect English, which made it easier for me to communicate. The restaurant has good food options, and the hotel is only 1.5 kms from Uxmal and the chocolate museum. If you're visiting Uxmal, I highly recommend staying here.
