Hotel Catedral Valladolid

The room was clean and nice, the shower had good pressure, and the AC worked perfectly. The front desk staff were nice too. The room felt a little stuffy, though, and while the place looks like a hotel, it operates more like a motel. There's outside access at the side as well as the front desk, so I felt mostly safe, just less secure than in a fully enclosed hotel.

The hotel was very comfortable, and the location is great, just one block from the city center and cathedral plaza. The rooms have been freshly remodeled, and the staff said there's a new owner. The HVAC and TVs are newer. I really appreciated being able to switch the TV channels from Spanish to English for the NCAA football final. Staff English was a bit limited, but we managed to communicate. There's no restaurant or food on site, though plenty of choices are within one to three blocks. I'd give it 4.5 out of 5.

The location might make the place seem appealing, but I really don't recommend it. The room was dull and awful, with a constant bad smell I couldn't identify. We could hear everything from next door, and the air conditioner didn't work. We asked for the room to be cleaned, but when we came back, it hadn't been touched. Unbelievable. The receptionist didn't speak English and made no effort to help us feel better about the situation. A terrible experience.

We booked four nights, but spent only two nights in the hotel because there were bedbugs. When we reported this serious problem, the receptionists seemed pretty relaxed about it. They moved us to another room, but as soon as I looked at the bed, I saw another bug. We received a refund for only one night. The receptionists didn't speak English, and we couldn't speak with the manager, who did speak it. They also laughed while checking the room. The bugs were definitely there, and I even showed them a video. It was a horrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend this place.
