Hotel Costa Verde

The view and location are great, and I liked the pool. The staff were kind and really helpful. The beds are very hard and there's no quilt. Also, you can't switch off the balcony light, which could be a problem if you need a very dark room.

Our room was huge, with a great ocean view from the balcony. It was clean, had a massive shower, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Really good value for the money, and I'd definitely recommend it.

You'll be doing a lot of walking around the grounds, which stretch across several acres, so bring walking shoes. The beach and a corner shop for sunscreen and cold drinks are a seven-minute walk away. There's also a bus if you don't fancy the walk, just bring colones for the fare. The location is perfecto, and I wouldn't hesitate to return. We enjoyed breakfast with a view of the green grounds and ocean, along with mimosas and excellent coffee. The grounds were beautiful, with greenery, wildlife, pools, and breathtaking sunsets. One pool was adults-only, which made things much better. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and wonderful about arranging transportation or COVID testing before checkout, as much or as little help as we needed. Nights were peaceful because the hotel and town close down around 10 PM. There was plenty of space to relax, and the place gave us everything we could ask for.

We booked a room a month ahead for carnaval and paid $200 a night for three nights. There weren't even chairs in the room, and they wouldn't let me bring my parents up to watch the parade. When I asked, manager Susanna immediately got offended and defensive, saying I couldn't tell her how to run her hotel. She was impossible to talk to. The staff, and especially the manager, treated us rudely the whole time.
