Hotel Ulúa

The service was awful, and the noise started early in the morning. The room cost little, but that doesn't excuse how poorly everything was looked after. It was cramped for the price, with an old air conditioner in bad shape, a shower that was only a pipe with cold water, and a TV screen marked with ink stains. There was heavy humidity, the doors wouldn't lock, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The location is great and the price is good. Service is basic, though, and the rooms could be cleaner. They're passable for a quick nap.

The only real plus is being near the boardwalk. The area is so noisy that sleeping at night was hard, and the hotel itself was expensive at $900 a night for what you get. The pillows had mold, hygiene was practically nonexistent, the mattress was uncomfortable, the bathroom was cramped, and the shower pressure was weak. The attendant working nights from December 31st to January 1st was very friendly. When we arrived on the 31st, the day attendant greeted us rudely with a sour expression. The place was small, dirty, and awful. I wouldn't recommend it.

We were charged 900 pesos for room 7 on the third floor, and there was no elevator. The bathroom and bed were dirty, with no furniture to put clothes or belongings on. There was a moldy nightstand covered in cobwebs. To top it off, the housekeeper opened our sealed bag of grapes and ate some, then tried to close it with a lot of staples. The building felt very enclosed and had no evacuation route. They should regulate this lodging, including profeco and health authorities. I hope there is never an accident, because you could be trapped there.
