Everything is close by from this central, well-connected hotel. The restaurants and nightclubs are nearby, as are government buildings and shopping centers. I also liked being able to walk to nearby parks and pedestrian paths. I felt comfortable walking around at night, and the hotel's closed-circuit security helped me feel safe. My room was really comfortable, and the staff were friendly, helpful hosts whose treatment made me feel at home. Excellent hotel, I'd recommend it 100%.

From outside the hotel, on a clear day, you can see the snowy peak of Orizaba. Inside, there's a lovely domed garden seating area, and the small hotel is super quiet. It's on a pedestrian street in the middle of downtown Xalapa, just seconds from the Carlos Fuente library, the Diego Rivera museum, and Parque Juarez, where the main colonial government buildings, including the governor's palace, are. Rooms have kitchenettes with small fridges, coffee makers, dishes, and microwaves, plus a sitting area and kitchen table. The staff are very nice and helpful, though they mostly speak Spanish. Internet is reliable, and rooms are a bargain at under 30 USD a night.

The hotel is permanently closed. A third-party person sends you to Hotel Imperial on the other side of downtown instead. I wouldn't recommend it. Don't book here.
