Hotel Real De Lua

I was glad to leave after a week. The best part was the view from the top, and the staff were friendly, but the hotel was disappointing and poor value for money. Our room was very small, with nowhere to put clothes, so I lived out of my suitcase. The white curtains let in lots of light, and dead flies in the ceiling lamps made it look like cleaning was being neglected. The room smelled strange, the bath mat was covered in black mold, and the bathroom had no ventilation. Its shower door had a gap underneath, leaving the floor soaked, and there was a lot of limescale. Wi-Fi kept disconnecting, there was no safe for valuables, and the room was only cleaned if we left the key at reception. Breakfast was just coffee and bread from a tin, served between 6 and 8 a.m., odd hours in my view. The dogs nearby barked through the night. At 8:30 a.m. we were woken by drilling and cutting noises, which was very disturbing on holiday when we wanted to sleep in. There's no elevator, and we had to haul our suitcase up six flights ourselves, as staff did not offer that service. The hotel is far from things, among steep hills and streets, so getting back on foot was a workout. I expected a very good hotel from its online four-star rating. I can't imagine why people gave it four stars, and I suspect the reviews may have been bought to lure people into booking. I'm not coming back.

The terrace was a highlight, and the beds were comfortable. The pool was decent too. There were a few small things missing, but it's a rural area, so it's hard to have everything.

The hotel is small but comfortable. It's a long way from town and sits at the highest elevation, so walking there makes for a pretty good workout.

The location is great.
