Hotel Villa Calakmul

The walls let every sound through. I could hear other guests moving chairs and slamming doors, along with all kinds of contact noises. The Wi-Fi was so terrible that I couldn’t even load my weather app.

We stayed in room 8 and were glad to use it as our base for visiting Calakmul in the morning. The room is enormous, about 6 by 7 meters by my estimate, and the bed is huge too. They could easily have split the room in two, but didn’t. Everything was clean and new, with the basic toiletries and toilet paper, and there’s free parking on the property. I also liked that the sink is outside the bathroom, so one person can brush their teeth or freshen up while the other is using the toilet. There’s a pleasant seating area on the roof for games, since there isn’t much to do in the village. Highly recommend it.

A quiet spot just a block off the main highway, with restaurants an easy walk away. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean and inexpensive, and the air conditioner worked well without being noisy. The stairs to the second floor are a bit steep, so keep that in mind if you have physical limitations. I’d definitely stay again.

We had a quiet, spacious double room and enjoyed our three-night stay. It came with toiletries, towels, hot water, and a blanket for the beds. The place is very clean and well located, and the service was excellent. They offer free water to refill bottles and, I guess, some hot water for tea. We brought our own water and coffee pot. The price was about what you’d expect.
