Rubén, the owner, was kind and helpful, and gave us useful information.

The room cost a lot for what was provided. There wasn't any shampoo or hand towels, and nobody was at reception. Water leaked out of the bathroom while we showered and flooded the bedroom. The TV was awkwardly placed, and there was nowhere to hang a towel.

The town is a 10/10, but this place gets a 3/10. Room 5 felt really damp during our three days and two nights, and we barely saw the receptionist once. There was no one around when we needed help. The Wi-Fi password didn't work, the hot water ran out almost immediately, and the room didn't even have a chair. While we were out exploring, I noticed other places at similar prices that looked promising. Honestly, I had more complaints than good things to say.

We only ended up staying because there wasn't another way to avoid the cold and get some rest, but I wouldn't recommend this place. At 900 pesos for a basic room, the price is outrageous, especially since they were the only rooms left in peak season. Rooms elsewhere were 650 pesos, looked very nice, and included hotel parking, but they were already booked. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and the person in charge just said, "Sorry, it can't be fixed right now." Without it we couldn't watch TV, and the bed had old sheets and a blanket. The bathroom setup was strange, with a sliding door over steps where shower water dripped, and the hot water ran out incredibly quickly. Cold showers in November and December are awful, and other guests were having the same problem. After we complained about the service, the person helping us didn't offer a better price, which was frustrating and disappointing. I hope you find somewhere better when you visit Zacatlán.

The facilities were clean, the hotel was nice, and the staff were really friendly. A shower curtain would help keep water off the floor, which gets very slippery when you step out. Foam slippers and sunscreen would be nice extras too. Also, darker curtains would keep out the strong morning light.
