Hotel Estrella Zacatlan

Hot water was the main problem for me. In cold Zacatlán, it’s essential, but it took a long time to arrive and sometimes didn’t come at all. I’m not sure whether the heater is solar, but it doesn’t work well for the local climate. The internet also kept dropping. Housekeeping isn’t automatic each day; you have to ask for it, and the sheets were reused from the previous day. They don’t provide individual shampoo or soap packets, just a liquid soap dispenser, so you need to buy those. Complimentary water was only there on day one and wasn’t replaced. There are some useful things: they have a hairdryer, which helps in Zacatlán’s weather, and an ironing board. Parking is available, but they assign spots as they see fit. Sometimes it’s at the hotel, sometimes on another property, and even when there’s room at the hotel they may ask you to park elsewhere. Service was very good on the first day. After the staff changed, it ranged from good to very bad. These are my honest impressions from my stay, in case they help future guests or the hotel consider what could be improved.

The hotel is close to the city center, and the staff were all friendly and eager to help. Since I’m from out of town and didn’t know where to go, they pointed me toward places to eat and visit. Room service was excellent too. I had such a great experience here.

We spent four days here, and the price felt fair. The location is great and nights are very quiet. The staff were lovely and the service was excellent. My only complaint is that when they clean the room, they leave the dirty sheets on the bed instead of changing them.
