The staff, especially Tania and John, made the stay fantastic. They arranged taxis, got the fire pit ready, and checked that we were comfortable in both the room and the playroom. We enjoyed a movie in the game room on the large projector, and later sat by the fire pit with wine on a chilly night. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the sheets and mattress made the room cozy. We'd only booked here as a last resort because every other hotel in town was full for Día de los Muertos weekend. I was worried about being out of town, but it was just a seven-minute taxi ride to the center. The city view was incredible, the sort you can't get when staying in town. There's also a restaurant across the road with the same great view, as others have mentioned. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

The restaurant across the road served delicious food, and the dish we liked best was called “chamoro”. Breakfast is served there too, though starting at 9 am felt a bit late when traveling with a child. There's a playground at the restaurant. We really enjoyed staying at hotel altavista. Our room was spacious, and the pillows, blankets, and mattresses were comfortable. Complimentary coffee on the balcony, with the view, was a highlight. We'd recommend the hotel and its restaurant, and hope to come back soon.

The view is gorgeous, and having a heater in the room really helps on those freezing Zacatlan nights. The hotel itself has a very good restaurant and dishes, so I don't understand why they close it and include breakfast at PPP instead. That restaurant is far away, and getting there means going into the center; its hours also leave you little flexibility. The service there was deplorable: tables weren't cleaned, and one came apart, spilling coffee. Be careful, you could get burned or stain your clothes. It really undoes the good impression the hotel leaves. Just keep in mind that the hotel is some distance from central Zacatlan.
