Camino Real Guadalajara

They gave us breakfast free on the last day, but made it clear the voucher covered only one person in each room. That didn’t make up for the stay. We paid for three rooms for three nights, and every couple ran into a problem. One bathroom smelled like sewage as soon as you entered. Another room had no hot water, and the couple was moved to an uglier, older, more neglected room before eventually getting an upgrade. In the third room, the shower barely dripped, so on our last day we skipped showering to avoid the hassle. This was the worst hotel experience we’ve had. The prices were a little higher, which would’ve been fine if the rooms had worked out. If you’re thinking of staying here for the World Cup, consider other options. Sorry, Camino Real, but I won’t book with you again.

The pool area is one of the last great spots here, and the staff are always friendly. The food is good too, so I keep coming back and don’t want to switch hotels. Still, after staying here for years, it’s sad to see how much the rooms need freshening up. The TVs aren’t very modern, and the bathrooms and maybe the mattresses could use an update.

The property is beautiful, and I’d probably come back. The rooms are aging gracefully, though the furniture looked exactly the same as it did when I stayed here ten years ago, I’m pretty sure. The front desk could use some work on being both friendly and efficient.

The big grassy areas are nice for kids to run around, and the staff were pleasant enough. Still, I found the stay really disappointing. The pool was too cold to use and full of leaves. Check-in took 40 minutes with a long line at 3 p.m. Parking was charged separately despite being listed as included. The beds were full size rather than the advertised queens, the tub was broken and wouldn’t drain, and the in-room jacuzzi didn’t work.
