Pearl Hotel

We arrived as walk-ins at midnight with no reservation, and the staff were courteous and attentive. The room was clean and a reasonable size compared with other hotels in this category. Checking out early at 7:00 am was smooth and hassle-free. We had a good stay.

We had an unpleasant stay and only booked because it was last minute and no other rooms were available. The hotel charged RM185 as a walk-in rate on the eve of a public holiday, calling it a super peak price without giving a basis. When I asked the concierge, the woman looked down and offered no explanation. It felt dishonest, and I wouldn’t choose this dirty hotel again. The room was dusty and dirty, with leaking pipes at both the shower and basin, plus an unknown liquid on the floor. The sheets, pillows, and blankets were stained. Soundproofing was terrible too, we could clearly hear people walking outside.

There are food stalls nearby that stay open until midnight, which is handy. The hotel has quite a lot of rooms compared with the one opposite in Simpang Ampat. The rooms aren’t anything special, but for the price, it works for a quick nap or a night’s sleep before heading to work.

The room I had smelled of cigarettes, so anyone sensitive to that probably won’t be able to sleep. On the plus side, the hotel is well located and simple, with a water filter in the lobby, keyless entry, a TV with enough channels, a clean toilet, plenty of parking, and free WiFi. There’s also a 24-hour 7-Eleven next door.
