Hotel Darulaman Alor Setar

The staff were attentive and friendly, and the rooms are nice. It's a cozy, convenient place right in the town center. There’s a filling, complimentary light breakfast, too. Ask for a room that fits your traveling group. I’d definitely stay here again.

You can now cross the river on a shortcut from the hotel to reach Dataran Alor Setar. A few years ago, the walk was much farther.

Pekan Rabu is an easy walk away, and there’s public parking outside. The hotel also has a lift and a Cuckoo water dispenser in the lobby. The family room with two queen beds was reasonably priced, and bottled water was provided. But the TV wouldn't work, even after I asked reception twice to replace the remote. We then requested another room and had to move at around 11 p.m. That room wasn't fully set up either, with just one cup and two towels for the same size family room.

There are restaurants, convenience stores, banks, Pekan Rabu and the public library nearby, and the KTM station is within walking distance. In room 305, the hot shower, air conditioning, electric kettle and lift all worked well. The room was clean and had a built-in clothes rack and a table. I didn't drive, so I can't comment on parking.
