The location is pretty good, and for the price the hotel was okay overall. Bring your own hairdryer, since they don’t provide one. We were there to hike Gunung baling and G. pulai for sunrise, so we needed to sleep and get up very early. On the first night, the receptionist uncle on the night shift was watching videos loudly on his phone, and we couldn’t sleep well. We told him, and he turned the volume down. The next night, heavy rain had us discussing in the hallway between rooms around 2am whether to continue the sunrise hike. He scolded us for being noisy because he wanted to sleep. He could play videos loudly and affect our sleep, but apparently we couldn’t disturb his. Are we the customers or is he? I thought he was meant to stay awake during the night shift. Somehow we were blamed for keeping him from sleeping. Fantastic, customers have to make sure the receptionist gets a good night’s sleep.

There’s no elevator, and the stairs are long. If you can’t manage stairs or have physical limitations, this place won’t work for you. Parking is on the public street, there’s no hotel parking. We booked two rooms, and they were unbearably hot when we arrived. It took over 6 hours for them to cool to a reasonable temperature, and we showered twice in two hours. The service desk gave us the runaround when we complained, blaming everything except the undersized air conditioning units. Apart from the air conditioning problem, the rooms were clean.

Everything was within walking distance since the hotel is right in the center of pekan Baling. The staff were friendly, too. My room was clean, well maintained, and spacious enough for two. The air conditioning was cool, the water heater worked well, and the water pressure was great. On the first floor there’s a 24/7 cuckoo water dispenser with coffee, tea, and sugar. I had a great stay. Thank you, and keep up the good service! :D

A clean bed and bathroom, with no frills. The price is reasonable if you’re passing through and just need a good night’s sleep. There are food stalls nearby.

We booked through Agoda, but they wouldn’t let us check in unless we paid more than the listed Agoda price. Why make a deal with Agoda if you won’t honor it? What a disgrace for a hotel. Losers.
