En. Fairos was attentive, professional, and especially helpful throughout our stay. His kindness and effort made a real difference. The hotel was clean and comfortable, in a great location, and the staff were friendly and always willing to assist. We look forward to returning.

On this third visit, our room was ready by 1pm, a big improvement from 2022 and 2023, when the check-in was awful and we didn't get the key until 8pm. Choosing Sand and Sandals Desaru again wasn't an easy decision, but I don't regret it. It's probably my second-best hotel in the Desaru area, and this stay exceeded my expectations. The new Room Division Manager, Mr Fairos, and the whole team made sure I was comfortable. Everyone was warm and professional, paid attention to details, and seemed glad to help with a smile. I may not remember every staff member's name, but they all contributed to a personal and attentive experience. I felt valued and like a priority, and can't wait to return.

We went for the Trifest event at the hotel. Our room was much more spacious than I expected, with a huge shower area, and the bed was clean and super comfortable. It was a rare sight to have a family of 🐒 sit on our balcony! The amenities were well maintained, breakfast had quite a few options, and the staff were helpful and friendly. We loved the teppanyaki restaurant. There weren't many interesting TV channels, so Netflix would be a nice addition. We'd definitely come back next year.

For RM1,458 for 2 nights, plus RM349.92 for an extra bed, I expected much better service. In KL you could get better service for this rate. This place is marketed as 5 star but ran like a budget hotel. We had good experiences at independent hotels and resorts in Langkawi, but this one was sadly disappointing. I should have trusted the 3.9 star Google reviews, though I thought recent reviews might mean they had improved. We booked on their official website and added an extra bed, which was supposed to include an extra towel and breakfast. That wasn't in the system at check-in or when we registered for breakfast, even on the second day. Housekeeping said one extra towel would cost extra. They charged RM6 for two bottles of mineral water, and nobody came to refresh the room during our two nights. There were other basic problems: a tiny bathroom shelf that barely held anything, a toilet door that kept sticking and had to be yanked open, and a dusty, dirty floor under the bed. On a public holiday at 11am, they had run out of clean pool towels. When we asked for toilet paper, housekeeping gave us sugar instead. The beach has so many rocks and stones that it's not suitable for walks or beach activities. These are just some examples of things that shouldn't happen in a 5 star hotel. If you're going to Desaru, you'd probably be happier going further down to Hard Rock or Westin.
