Mercure Selangor Selayang

The room was fine in size and facilities, with comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom is spacious and the water pressure is excellent, though the open layout could feel awkward with someone you're not close to. Cleanliness was standard. What really spoiled breakfast for me was the live egg and thosai cooking station in Meraki Restaurant. It was indoors with no extractor or way to channel the smell. About ten minutes after the staff started cooking, the smell had spread through the whole restaurant. Most guests were there for work and wearing formal clothes. I had just started eating and rushed through breakfast to get away from it, but my clothes smelled of food until late in the evening. There's a closed kitchen visible from the serving area that would be a suitable place for the live cooking without filling the dining space with the smell. This is an established hotel, so I don't understand why such a straightforward issue has been overlooked. Please look into it. It may sound minor, but it isn't.

Breakfast was a lovely start to the day. Mr. Ali deserves a special mention for warm, attentive, genuinely caring service. His hospitality made the morning feel special and the stay memorable. Thank you for the lovely service, Mr. Ali!

The staff were polite, but the room was loud. The walls are thin, the TV was noisy, and doors kept opening and closing after midnight. The carpet and bathroom tiles need a thorough cleaning. I wouldn't order from the room service menu, and there aren't any food options nearby either.

The hotel looks modern and new, and has all the amenities. I stayed three nights for work and was comfortable, but the service didn't match what I'd expect from a four-star place, which was disappointing. Housekeeping only made the bed. They didn't replace the used towels, including the hand towel, and left the used cups as they were. Breakfast is meant to start at 6:30 a.m., but when I came down at 7:20 it was already packed. Of the two coffee machines, only one worked, so there was a long queue. The thosai counter beside the egg station had no one there. The salad bar was a bit sad, too. The next morning I came down at 6:40, and nobody was at the thosai counter until 7.
