The units sound practical for families or people who need a home office, with layouts generally around 1,250 sq ft to 1,450 sq ft, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The residential block is also low density, which should make things feel more private and peaceful. There’s a pool, gym, barbecue area and landscaped garden, plus ample parking and 24-hour security. Getting around is convenient. The Arena Residence is part of The Arena development beside Arena Curve, with shops, food outlets, retail and financial services planned there. PISA, now sPICE, is within walking distance, while Queensbay Mall and the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone are a short drive away. Major roads and Penang International Airport are also nearby. The commercial activity and nearby sPICE events could make the area lively, with extra traffic and noise on weekends or during big events. That mix of residential and commercial uses can affect the quiet, but the location and facilities make it a solid option for families and working professionals who want easy access around Bayan Baru.

I live at Arena. There wasn’t any notice, sign or warning from the guard that the pedestrian walkway was closed. I was crossing there when a guard chased after me and shouted that it had just been painted. Since when are people in Malaysia supposed to assume they can’t use a pedestrian walkway? Could they really not put up a notice?

Block A is the worst for getting things in. The lorry can’t enter, so everything has to be pushed from the main road, and the walk from the car park is long. The main entrance is poorly designed too, since you have to pass through the car park to get in. There’s leaking from the upstairs bathroom ceiling in most units, and the bathroom pipes are loud. The car park layout is lousy, and the security guards are the worst. Compared with nearby condos, I’d rate this one the lowest.

There are more shops opening now, which is a good sign. A few cafes, Japanese restaurants and a burger place have joined the mix. The condo block is still nice, though it was better a few months ago. The maintenance department seems to be taking a nap.

There’s plenty of parking at Arena Curve, and it’s an easy walk from Olive Hotel and D’Piazza Mall. For food, there are quite a few good options, including Dandy, JomBurgeria, Rics Burger, Sushi Mentai and Kyochon.
