Olive Tree Hotel

The room was clean and comfortable, and felt like good value. The front desk seemed busy and gave us the wrong room. My parents had the same problem, but it was peak holiday season, so we understood and were fine moving to a different room. We still enjoyed our stay. 😊🏨⭐

The room was spacious, the bed was large and comfortable, breakfast had lots of tasty choices, and check-in and check-out went smoothly. It was my first time staying at the hotel, booked through the T booking app, and I was very satisfied with those parts of the stay. After reaching Penang Airport, I realized I'd left my jacket in the wardrobe. I contacted the hotel right away and was told they'd check and get back to me, but nobody followed up. When I called again that evening, they said nothing had been reported to lost and found. About a week later I commented about it on the T app. Mr. Goh Chow Yang, the hotel's Assistant Executive Manager (EAM), then contacted me personally and helped locate the jacket. He kindly arranged to have it couriered to my home. The jacket wasn't especially valuable, but I really appreciated how promptly he helped and how far he went to sort it out. I couldn't submit my compliment through the T booking app because of a technical issue, so I'm sharing it here to thank the staff, especially Mr. Goh Chow Yang. I hope the hotel can improve its lost-and-found process so other guests don't run into the same inconvenience.

I've stayed at Olive Tree several times, and most of those stays have been positive. I like the hotel's sustainability vision. The furniture, facilities, and general setup are comfortable and adequate, though nothing spectacular. On my latest visit I arrived late from the airport, tired and ready to check in. The security guard greeted me warmly, but the front desk staff member didn't acknowledge me at all. He didn't look up or say hello, and suddenly called out for a colleague to deal with me without even looking my way. I gathered his name might be Choo or Chu. It felt dismissive, as if I was interrupting him rather than arriving as a guest. The colleague who helped me was courteous and professional, which made the contrast even clearer. In a hotel, basic courtesy like eye contact and a greeting should be standard. I'm a paying guest, and the hospitality should be better. I might have brushed this off in a self-service shop, but at a reputable hotel, that behavior was unacceptable.

A water dispenser was a really nice touch. It meant I didn't have to keep buying bottled water. The bathroom was modern, clean, and stocked well, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Great value for the comfort, and I'd stay again.
