The Cuckoo water outside the room was handy. The front desk and general service were nice, too. But the room had a cigarette smell even though it was listed as non-smoking. I stopped noticing it after sitting there for about 30 minutes, then smelled it again whenever I left and came back. The shower water was boiling hot, which felt good in the cold room, but there was no ventilation or fan and it got suffocating. We booked a king room, though the bed seemed smaller than a king. We could hear kids shouting next door, so the soundproofing was poor. The room felt fairly spacious but didn’t have much furniture to absorb noise. We stayed two nights and managed to sleep okay, thankfully, but the list of issues went on.

The bed was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and there was hot water. The pool is only ankle deep and really for kids, in case you were hoping to swim. The AC was broken and never got fixed. They gave us a fan, which helped, but still. Also, there’s a 50 RM fine for a lost key and they wouldn’t waive it. Either my girlfriend lost the key or we were only given one to start with. I didn’t think it was worth going to the TCC over, though I believe that fee violates the Consumer Protection Act of 1999.

Check-in and check-out each took less than three minutes. The staff were professional and friendly, and the room was spotless and spacious. Really good service.

I stayed there on my own and liked it more than I expected. The rooftop cafe was a favorite, with a lovely view and sea breeze. I could sit looking out at the water while enjoying food and a drink.
