Red's Hotel

Rooms 308 and 309 were so cramped that we had to put our luggage on the bed whenever we wanted to get something out. I’d only suggest those rooms for one person, not two. We also didn’t want housekeeping to come in, but there was no door sign to let them know. For a hotel promoted as smart, check-in still meant waiting for reception to open the door manually. And the checkout kiosk wouldn’t return our deposit, so we couldn’t check out there.

I had told them I’d arrive around 1 PM and made a special request. When I got there, the receptionist said the room wasn’t ready and asked me to come back later. I was willing to wait, but she wouldn’t let me wait in the lobby or help me find a seat. She kept texting on her phone and told me to wait. Please train the front desk staff to be more polite.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the room needs maintenance. The toilet was dirty when I checked in, and the wallpaper was peeling. There’s no soundproofing either, you can hear what people are doing on the other side of the wall. So-so.

They told me at 9 am that I had to check out by 10, and there was no room to negotiate. If they’d mentioned it when I checked in, maybe I could have accepted it, but hearing about it just an hour beforehand really disrupted my travel plans. No next time.
