After 8 years away, we came back to Cameron Highlands and this was our worst stay. We paid RM600+ for 2 nights, but Star Regency was in terrible shape and not worth the money. On the second day, the water stopped completely. We couldn't shower or use the toilets and had to go to the mall to use a washroom. All the water heaters were faulty, and one gave off a burning smell. A technician came late in the evening to “fix” it, but the problem returned. In Cameron Highlands' cold weather, that ruined the stay. The internet didn't work at all, so we couldn't use the TV or connect devices. When we reported it, there was no proper fix. Management made excuses instead of taking responsibility, and manager Patrick went missing at the end, seemingly aware of the building's poor maintenance. The lack of accountability and upkeep spoiled our holiday. I would NOT recommend Star Regency to anyone.

Loose electrical wires were hanging from the ceiling and lying along the floor when we checked in. The room was mouldy, smelled bad, was old and dirty, and looked NOTHING like the pictures. The fridge was broken, and we needed it to keep baby milk cold. I called reception, but it was never fixed, so we had to leave. The photos for this property are a lie. Service was terrible and they didn't care at all. Literally disgusting, the worst hotel I've ever been to. It needs shutting down. I requested a refund, but the hotel said there was no issue with the property. Please see pics.

Affordable and in a good location. The WiFi was strong, and they provided soap and everything, but no towel. Some of the water heaters didn't work well. Still, overall it was good.

There are plenty of restaurants and street food stalls nearby, and the car wash in the parking lot was handy. The rooms felt spacious, clean and modern after the recent renovation. Staff were really friendly and accommodating, and my family had fun playing pool.

The parking area felt dangerous, with rusty or broken guardrails and no rails in the narrowest spot, where a car could easily go over the edge. Inside, the rooms were awful and felt hostile, the bathroom was dirty, the decor and general atmosphere were depressing, and the staff weren’t especially friendly. The location was ridiculous, and the hotel wasn’t even particularly cheap. I can’t understand the 4 or 5 star ratings, or even a 3, for a place this run-down. I think it should be removed from booking websites. Noise made the stay miserable. The hotel is above a mosque, and loudspeakers called people to prayer several times a day, including at 5am and 6am, then for another half hour. In the evening it seemed to happen almost hourly, with some kind of sermon from around 7 until after 9. People upstairs were also shouting and moving furniture until after midnight. I came close to leaving altogether, but wanted to see the tea fields in the morning. I was so relieved when it was time to go.
