The main problem was the roaches. During our five nights, I killed seven of them. The comfortable bed didn’t make up for the price, and you can find cheaper places in the area. We were there for a nearby conference, so the location was perfect, but parking was on the street and had to be paid for every day. Once we left a spot, we couldn’t find another and ended up parking a long way away. The staff were nice, the room was moderately clean, and the beds were comfortable. There was only one lift, and it was very slow.

I accidentally made two bookings for the same day, but the receptionist said they couldn’t cancel one because they didn’t want to pay me the penalty. How much would it really cost them to cancel it? They wouldn’t even give me half a refund. The parking isn’t free either, and nobody told me at check-in that I had to pay through the parking app. I woke up to a fine on my windshield. A reminder would have helped.

The room was good, but the hot water kept coming and going. The instructions said to wait 60 seconds, yet after five minutes there still wasn’t any hot water. I complained and maintenance checked it, but the problem continued. Please improve the system. Guests should also be told at check-in that parking has to be paid for. Nobody informed us, and we got a parking saman even though it was a Saturday weekend.

It’s a satisfactory, typical three-star hotel. All was well apart from a strange smell in the hallway every morning, like someone had shat there.

Our stay was good overall, but finding a compound on our car as we were leaving around 9am the next morning really ruined the day. We’d checked in at night on 26/9, and every car parked in front of the hotel had been fined, including ours. Why didn’t the receptionist tell us? Does the hotel not have special parking for guests? It was our first time in Penang. Thanks, Ernes.
