The rooms are cozy and everything was very clean. Bathrooms are small, which is understandable for a budget hotel, and with so many rooms there’s a good chance your window won’t have a view. Getting around the resort is easy, though: Genting Skyworld is about a five-minute walk, and Skytropolis is even closer. The hotel and mall are connected, with food outlets, spas, and a convenience store on the ground floor. The main issue was check-in. The self-service desks don’t work for some third-party online bookings, so you have to use the counter. We waited 50 minutes because staff were serving one person for nearly that long, even though our own check-in took only a couple of minutes. Service could be better organized. I’d still recommend it.

Everything you need is within walking distance at First World Complex, which connects directly to the main retail areas, including Genting Grand. You can stay indoors when the weather is bad. I spent five nights there alone in a Y5 Deluxe Room. The rooms are tiny, as people say, but for a solo traveller it was the best fit since I didn’t have to squeeze around anyone. With three or more people, I’d reconsider booking here. The breakfast buffet is at Coffee Terrace in the Genting Grand complex, not The Food Factory in First World Complex as Google Maps says. You have to walk through SkyAvenue to get there. The Y5 rooms had recently been renovated as of my stay, so they should be cleaner. A non-smoking room is even better, with no one trying to pollute it while hoping their casino losses will turn around. Free WiFi is available, but it was slow on upload and download when I ran a speed test, so Netflix wouldn’t be ideal. My room had a strong LTE signal, so you can decide whether to use a hotspot instead. Machine check-in worked in theory, but it took me a while to find my booking number and pay the fees, including the sustainability and check-in fees. Then the machine wouldn’t issue my keycard, so I had to go to reception. I was put in the keycard reactivation lane with 15 others and estimate the wait was an hour. There were over 100 people in the general line at check-in, so without the machine, expect a very long wait.

We booked a room after a late gathering dinner so we could stay the night, but the check-in was a nightmare. All the kiosks were under maintenance until 6 am, so everyone had to queue. There were more than 50 people ahead of us and only four counters open. Staff were slow and rude. We finally got our room card and reached the room at 4 am, after waiting about four and a half hours. Staff seemed overworked, agitated, and shouted at customers. It left us wondering why we’d booked a room, to rest and enjoy a holiday or to suffer and be scolded? First World may be the biggest hotel in the world, with the most rooms, but quality matters more than quantity. If it has that many rooms, it needs enough staff to serve guests efficiently. With service this poor, I sincerely advise people on vacation to avoid it. It may be the largest, but the service is the lousiest in the world. The room

Honestly, if you’re Muslim, I wouldn’t recommend staying at a hotel in Genting highland. Halal food is very limited, maybe only five or six shops. Standard rooms are worse, with no window looking out at the blue sky, just a view of your neighbor. I suggest getting a superior room, which has a window facing the sky. If you’re looking for food, don’t go to Genting highland. If you only want to look around, two nights is enough.

It’s easy to get around Resorts World Genting, with attractions and facilities for visitors of every age. There’s a casino, food courts, shops, and children’s play areas, so it feels more like a full entertainment mall than just a resort. Everything is connected and easy to walk between. The cable car stop links straight to the resort’s top floor, making the trip simple and enjoyable. There’s also an open terrace where you can sit back, enjoy the cool weather, and take in the mountain views. The place stays lively day and night, with plenty of restaurants, activities, and entertainment.
