I had a good time here, with good facilities and no problems during my stay. The hotel staff were very helpful, and it was pleasant and well located. It’s close to the famous Joja Bagel and not far from the Penang Ferry, with most major travel spots within walking distance. Good value for money and a solid choice for a Penang visit.

After the second night, I woke up with my legs covered in bed bug bites and went straight to reception. Staff first claimed they were mosquito bites, despite how obvious they looked in the photo, and didn’t apologise. They did move us to a different room. No compensation was offered, and they didn’t offer to wash our clothes. The manager said, “we don’t have a laundry,” and sent us to a self-service place 10 minutes away. He reluctantly agreed to reimburse the cost. We spent the day dealing with laundry and feeling uncomfortable. We’d paid 30 ringit, about £5, and returned with the clothes to get reimbursed. They asked for a receipt, even though it was a self-service laundry they had directed us to. Fortunately, we’d recorded videos of paying because we suspected this could happen. When we showed them, the receptionist called the manager, and they laughed at us, apparently surprised we had video. Eventually they gave us the 30 ringit. The 100 ringit deposit and long list of charges for anything they consider broken, missing, or stained made it feel like they were just waiting to take money from us. Not a nice experience, and I don’t recommend it.

The bed and bathroom were good, and the shower worked like one in a 5 star hotel. The rooms were clean, and the walkways were well lit. A very good 3 star hotel. There are two parking spots at the front. To find the place, look for SENTRAL, then continue down that road until you see the HOTEL sign board, as shown in my picture. If you don’t park at the entrance, find a spot on the road elsewhere. Daily parking with the Penang Go app is RM9.00.

The reception staff were friendly, and they provided free water and coffee packets with creamer, which was a nice touch. The rooms were decent for the budget, but housekeeping fell short: no one came to clean or replace the utilities each day. Nearby Indian restaurants were a bonus, since familiar food was easier to find. Overall, a decent stay.
