Chulia Heritage Hotel

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was roomy and clean. The bathroom is very minimalist, but it was clean too. The location is superb. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m back in Penang.

Good value for the price, and I’ve no complaints. I only meant to keep expectations realistic about the amenities, not criticize the place. It’s a nice, low cost hotel, clean, with friendly staff.

It’s easy to walk around Georgetown from here, and there’s nightlife nearby, but the room stayed quiet. The building is cute and historic. There’s parking on the property, and the guard helps with parking. He’s there around the clock, which felt very secure. The front desk person was kind and friendly, and the cleaner did a tidy, proper job every day. I highly recommend it.

The place is modest and clean, and you can walk to lots of food spots and attractions, including Armenian St and Art St. I booked the three bedded room, which is one room only, so book early. The bathroom is 5' x 4.5', a good size for a shower. They provide soap, bottled drinking water, a plastic hair cover, and towels, with towel changes available. There’s also an electric kettle, cups and saucers, a wardrobe with hangars, and coffee and tea packets that are replenished when used. I’d recommend it to travellers.
