iStay Hotel

The bed was comfortable and the location was good, but we were disappointed by the rest. Our room didn't match the advertised photos, and we were put in the rundown laundromat building. The corridor mats were dirty, and we could hear both neighboring rooms and outside noise through the walls. When we asked about parking for our rented motorbike, staff sent a message in all caps saying, "MOTOR BIKE CANNOT PARKING AT I STAY HOTEL." Yet we kept seeing one or two motorbikes parked at the entrance, which felt misleading. They also called in the morning insisting on coming into our room to fix a bidet spray. We declined, and think they should have waited until after checkout for that maintenance.

We were still sitting in reception at 17:30, three and a half hours after the 2pm check-in, because the rooms weren't clean. The receptionist couldn't be bothered to help, refused to find a solution, and wouldn't refund us. At the 5pm shift change, the new person sat at her desk and then fell asleep on a pillow. There wasn't even an offer of a drink, and the only toilet was for staff. We're now trying to find somewhere else to stay while down £350. We're having to go through the booking agent for a refund, which apparently could take weeks if it's approved. Don't touch this place with a barge pole.

We stayed three nights and had a bad experience. My dad needed to rest after chemotherapy, but even though we requested room cleaning, it hadn't been done when we came back at 3:00 p.m. We asked again and were told to wait because they were busy cleaning other rooms. We really had to wait for them to clean while he needed to rest? The room was quite small, with no mini fridge. And if you're assigned the second floor, good luck with the stairs.

A lovely little hotel in a great spot, with plenty of food options nearby and an easy walk to Georgetown's historic centre. There's also a self-service laundry attached.
