Chew Jetty has a distinctive feel: it’s a real village on stilts over the water, as well as a tourist spot. Along the wooden walkway there are traditional houses, souvenir stalls, and glimpses of local daily life. I liked that it welcomes visitors while holding onto its heritage. At the end, the sea view is relaxing, especially near sunset. It can get crowded, but the atmosphere still felt peaceful and pleasant. Be respectful, since people live there. It’s worth a visit for a cultural side of Penang beyond malls and modern attractions.

The peaceful view from the end of the jetty was the best part. There isn’t much else beyond clothes and souvenir shops and drink sellers, though we did find a nice piece of art at one souvenir stall. It’s fine for a visit while exploring the city, just don’t expect anything exciting.

Worth a short walk through. There are lots of stalls selling souvenirs and water, and it’s interesting to see how the houses are constructed. We spotted some street art along the way too.

The jetty was free to enter when I visited, and the view at the end was lovely for photos. I’d been to Penang a few times without knowing this place was here. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the Armenian street. I went in the evening, when you can also catch the sunset. The path passes some houses over the water and is quite narrow before opening onto the jetty.

I went around 10 in the morning and it was too hot. I’m not sure if it was just the timing, but there wasn’t much to do besides take pictures. I spent about 30-45 minutes there. There are a few souvenir stalls to browse.
