OYO 90334 Mawlaya Hotel

We had to move to another hotel that same day because the room was so dusty and unhygienic. There was dust all over the sheets, the door was in poor condition, and the socket plugs were hanging partway out of the wall, so the power wasn't stable. They also insisted we pay an extra RM15 per person, saying their boss had told them to. We couldn't get a refund, and had to fight to get our deposit and those extra charges back at checkout. Please choose somewhere else if you can.

We booked through Agoda and paid online before arriving, but then had to wait outside for half an hour with nobody at the counter. We'd reserved one queen bed and one single bed, but were made to take separate rooms and got no refund. The pictures on Agoda were different. Not recommended.

My stay was a very bad experience. I booked through Agoda, then was charged extra on arrival under a new hotel policy that hadn't been mentioned on the booking service. They said Agoda was promoting the room too cheaply. It wasn't GST or Tourism Tax, just a hotel charge. They also kept my deposit. The room was small, with an even tinier toilet and a hole in its ceiling. There was no TV, and the door had no knob. They gave me a locker and key, but there was no holder on the door to keep the locker in place.

The hotel is in a good spot, with a bus stop right outside, and the room rate is economical. The air conditioning and hot water worked fine, and filtered hot and cold drinking water was available in the lobby. The staff required us to take breakfast, noodles and a hot drink, for RM15 per room, even though this hadn't been mentioned when we booked. The place is run down and cleanliness was only so-so. They provided washing gel and a towel, but no toilet paper. Many room locks were broken and replaced with makeshift ones. WiFi was very weak, and rooms by the lobby were noisy. There wasn't much space to move around, especially for two people sharing.
