The room and bathroom were filthy. Some walls had drink stains and other marks, the beds were dusty, and the blankets had holes. They didn't provide body shampoo, towels, or even wall hooks for toiletries and other belongings. The thin walls and floorboards made it easy to hear the exact words of the people next door. It was noisy and annoying, especially when trying to sleep at night. The food was terrible, and I found the location even worse. The place is hidden next to a chocolate museum, and honestly, I couldn't find it.

My visit on 18 Oct 2017 was frustrating. The air conditioning barely worked, so I changed rooms, and then I found bugs at night. Please do something about these problems. My earlier trip in 2015 had been great, with a nice, clean room.

The one good thing was the free breakfast. Otherwise, the room smelled awful, the bed and pillows were unhygienic, and we couldn't get proper sleep. Room service seemed nonexistent, and I doubt they cleaned properly before my husband and I checked in. The air conditioner was already on when we first entered, which should have been a clue. Sometimes brown water came out of the tap. We bought a bottle of water from the nearby 7-11 store to gargle with after brushing our teeth. The Wi-Fi they claimed to have wasn't available, so we had to use up our 4G data during the stay.

I had a double room, and this was one of the worst places I've ever stayed. There were fleas, which was the final straw. One room had dirty yellow sheets with black hair on them, while the room with somewhat whiter sheets had no window. The air conditioner in one room was broken. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

It was cheap, in a good location, and the staff were fairly helpful. But during my stay, a Chinese Malaysian dorm mate tried to steal my money. When I said I'd report him, he tried to bribe me, and after I did report it, he threatened to call his “friends” if I didn't leave. I was only there for a Visa Run, so I didn't want delays or trouble. I paid for another night and the deposit, then didn't bother trying to get that money back. I hope the people involved can be reported, because this kind of thing brings down the place's image. It was really unfortunate. I did love Penang, for what it's worth.
