Scott Signature Suites by ALV

We stayed a week because the place is right in front of Island Hospital. The room was okay, but not clean enough. The bigger problem was our belongings: when we came back, our luggage zipper was open, as if housekeeping had opened it while we were out. Our own hangers were missing too. Staff either didn't know or pretended not to know where they went. Be careful about leaving your things in the room when you go out. You don't know what might happen inside.

The AC gets very cold, and the location is great for Island Hospital. Maybe the only hotel closer is the YMCA across the road. The rooms are basic: I had only sugar, no tea or coffee, and no other condiments, though perhaps they forgot. The bed is very hard, the towels aren't very nice, and there was a lot of noise in the corridor. If you're visiting a patient for more than one night, other hotels within 200m are better for the same price. For one night, this place is okay.

The room was big and clean, with an iron, hair dryer and mini fridge. The staff were kind, especially the woman on staff. Island Hospital is only a minute away, so the location works well if you're going there. For tourists looking to see attractions, it’s not a good choice: sights are far away, there are no restaurants nearby, and I always ordered food through Grab. They don’t provide toiletries like soap, toothpaste or shampoo, and there’s no extra bed. Although the room is spacious for two, you can’t add another person or a bed. The photo below shows the other room I booked for the extra person, and that one was spacious too.

The room was clean and spacious, though they only provided soap, not shampoo. This seems to be the only hotel close to Island and Northern hospitals. I stayed five nights, and the staff seemed not to care about guests at all. Nobody said hi or good morning, even when we passed the front desk. It felt strange 😁 It’s more than 2 km from George Town's tourist areas, with no attractions in walking distance. I had to take Grab each time, since public transport didn't seem available nearby. It was also hard to buy anything around there: no shops close by, just a small reception stall selling instant noodles, water and energy drinks.
