Jackie made the place feel warm and was very chatty, spoke good English, and gave me lots of useful tips when I arrived. Staff were nice and helpful too. I’d booked a single room but got moved upstairs to a double. There’s air conditioning, shared bathrooms, and a kitchen with filtered water, a fridge, and a small gas cooker. The guesthouse is central, within walking distance of Georgetown’s main sights and Chulia street’s pubs and bars. The bus station is two minutes around the corner, along with a 7 Eleven and plenty of good local restaurants. There’s a self-laundry across the road. The kitchen and fridge really need a better clean, the fridge looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. There’s no shared sitting room either. The courtyard shown with chairs and a table in the photos is now where a lady washes her clothes every day.

The owner was nice and apologized when I said I was leaving early, but the bathrooms were so bad that I checked out after one night. The toilets were filthy, with poop stains, and there was no toilet paper or hand soap. The front desk guy was nice, and I know it’s budget accommodation, but the reviews had led me to expect a clean place. I’m writing this to warn other travelers. You can find much cleaner places in Georgetown if you’re willing to spend a bit more.

Jackie, who owns the place, was really friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is in a lovely pre-war building with high ceilings and little courtyards, just a few minutes’ walk from the main stretch of bars and street food stalls. Everything you need is close by. My room had air conditioning, a small desk, a stool, and a comfortable bed. It was fantastic, and everything was regularly cleaned and well maintained.

The owner made the stay personal, and we enjoyed chatting with him. He was kind and talkative, and even let us check out late when we asked. The shared restrooms were very clean, and the place is great value. It’s in a great spot for walking wherever you want to go. I recommend it, and wish the owner well.
