Sri Manja Boutique Hotel

The location is convenient, with easy access to town and the highway, but the service was poor. I was in Kuantan for a two-day job and needed a good stay. Check-in wasn't allowed until 2 pm, as usual. When I got to the room, the air conditioning didn't work. I told reception as I was leaving and expected it to be fixed while I was out. I finished work around 1 am on the first day, but the air conditioning still wasn't working. The night receptionist offered another room, so I moved all my things and got an OK night's sleep around 2 am. The next day I had to go out at 10 am and expected my work to run late, so I extended my stay. I put the “makeup room” tag on the door and asked reception to clean the room. When I got back at 8 pm, tired, it still hadn't been done. I could only ask for replacement towels. They offered to clean then, but I declined because it was already 8 pm. The room should have been cleaned while I was out, not after a long day when I was back. Maybe this hasn't happened to other guests, but if the hotel doesn't take complaints seriously, I don't know what to say. Good hotel in a strategic area, poor service.

The room had a separate ironing room with three irons and boards, but you have to leave your room to use it. Parking is in the basement, though a spot isn't always available even after registering your car. Cleanliness needs work. The floor felt sandy or dirty under bare feet, the bathroom had grime between the tiles and around the toilet, and baby cockroaches came out of the drain at night. The quilt had a few blood stains. I asked reception to change it, but the greasy pillowcase was still the same, so I covered it with my own cloth. I hope they improve the upkeep, since many guests stay here and it could be much better.

The food was amazing, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had a nice experience during my three-day, two-night stay.

There's no tag for “housekeeping service@cleaning.” I asked reception directly for housekeeping each morning for two days, but the room still wasn't cleaned. I'm updating this in the middle of my stay, so I'm not sure about the coming days. I also found a cockroach egg on the bed.
