Veer Hotel

There’s a cafe on the ground floor, and the food there is amazing. I also loved the service and the people here. The room was clean with no odd smell, and the bathroom had good water pressure.

The sheets and room condition were the main problem. We asked to change rooms after finding many stains and a yellowish tinge on the bed sheets. The replacement on the first floor was larger and had a king-sized bed, but the sheets were stained again. There was visible mold on the walls and thick dust on the bed frame. The first room, on the third floor, was spacious, but had a strong moldy smell as soon as we opened the door. We were wet from the rain and needed only a few hours' rest before checking out at 7:00 AM, so we decided to stay at first. My companions and I were riding motorcycles from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu, and we don’t know the Kuantan area. Heavy rain forced us to stop at roughly 2:00 AM, and this was the first hotel we came across, so we walked in and asked for a room with a window and a queen-sized bed. After the sheet issue, we contacted the front desk and were moved from the third floor to the first. We paid RM143, and the conditions were unacceptable. The bad weather meant we couldn’t look for another place. I understand the establishment is basic and that can affect the price, but the rooms were far below acceptable standards. This was our first stay and will certainly be our last. I can’t recommend it unless significant improvements are made to cleanliness and maintenance.

The cafe opens early for breakfast, and the room was really clean. I did notice a window held shut with string and a slightly faulty washroom fixture, but it was great value.

Eating options downstairs were limited, and the bathroom water pressure was low.
