The Tudor

We enjoyed it so much that we added two nights to our stay. The price felt more than fair, and The Tudor, Ipoh had such a warm, welcoming feel. I loved the beautiful furniture, paintings, and vintage details. Thanks for a lovely time!

I'd love to return to this little villa. It's so peaceful and precious that part of me wants to keep it a secret from visitors who don't appreciate quiet. It's tucked into a leafy residential neighbourhood off a main street, with no heavy traffic outside the gates. The owners have automatic gates, and someone greets you at the entrance once you're let in. The interior feels cosy and homely, almost like being welcomed into someone's private home. After check-in, you're given old-world keys to your room. I booked a twin room with an ensuite. It was very spacious compared with a similarly priced city hotel room, and the beds were comfortable. The shower had good water pressure, and the quiet neighbourhood made for a good night's sleep. There's a small kitchenette and lounge behind the main building. The receptionist said cooking isn't allowed, but you can bring your own food and use the space quietly. Parking is limited if you're driving, so check ahead. I hope The Tudor stays just as it is. I'll come back one day soon.

We stayed over New Year, and the staff were warm and accommodating. They noticed we had elderly family members with us and changed our rooms so we could be closer to the hotel entrance. The place is beautifully furnished, and the double family rooms worked perfectly for gathering, sharing meals, and chatting around the central sofa area. They kindly brought us extra chairs and a table. The rooms were simple but had what we needed for a comfortable stay, and the bathrooms were clean with great water pressure. My only complaint was the air conditioning, which blows straight toward the beds. Every night we had to adjust the vents by hand so it wouldn't blow in our faces.

The place is tiny, quiet, and feels more like a home than a hotel. There are just nine rooms, but it has a garden and a game room, and the whole setting reminded me of being back home in Europe. The rooms were clean, the staff were great, and it felt very welcoming for babies and kids. It was my best stay so far. Getting around is the main drawback. You need a taxi to head out, and there’s no convenience store or supermarket nearby, though Grab is easy to use. There’s no breakfast provided either, so you’ll need to sort it out for the kids before going out. For adults, that wasn’t a problem since Ipoh has lots of good food. I’d happily return for a family holiday and would recommend it to anyone visiting.
