Hallmark Regency Hotel - Johor Bahru

We appreciated the upgrade to a bigger room. It was generously sized, and the bathroom was spacious too. For the price, both were generally well furnished. We have no complaints and would highly recommend the hotel to travellers looking for a comfortable, hassle-free stay. Great value for money, and thanks for the good service.

The location was convenient for the places I wanted to visit, and the room was spacious and very comfortable. Toiletries were complete. Check-in went quickly and smoothly, and parking was easy, although a late-night return might mean parking a bit farther away. My only disappointment was having to buy drinking water instead of getting it complimentary. I accidentally left my telekung behind. The hotel kept it safe and even posted it back to me, which I really appreciated. I’d stay here again if I go to JB.

We stayed from 8 - 10 May 2026 and booked a triple room through Agoda. For what we paid for two nights, it felt like we’d been cheated. The booking app’s beautifully digitally corrected photos gave us the wrong impression. The dated, old hotel badly needs a full extreme makeover. Our room felt gloomy and musky, with very dim lighting and just one light source in the toilet, good for halloween. There’s no in-house carpark, so you have to use the open public carpark down the road. We didn’t see any security guards. The lift can fit only 4 adults, with no breathing space. The mattress was hard and we could feel the springs. The bed squeaked, the sheets were stained, and the pillows discoloured. The basin tap gave only hot water, getting so hot it burned my hands. There was no soap dish, and the bidet was horrible, dirty and unhygienic. We asked engineering to fix the room TV, but were told engineering had left for the day at 5pm, so nobody came. When we asked for cutlery, we were told to collect it from the front desk ourselves. We could hear pub music and singing next door. Don’t be deceived by the booking app photos.

This was our second visit, and once again we were impressed by the amenities and service. The staff were professional and attentive, and everything was in order. We have no complaints and would recommend the hotel to travellers wanting a comfortable, hassle-free stay. Excellent value for money. Thanks for the excellent service.
