The Putra Regency Hotel

We came back after eight years and stayed at Putra Hotel for three days and two nights. The property is a little dated, but the spacious rooms were clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and quick to respond. After checkout, my daughter realized she’d left our laptop cable behind. The hotel kept it safe and helped arrange for my friend to pick it up four days later. We really appreciated their honesty and help. Construction next door didn’t affect our comfort. The pool area could be upgraded, especially for children. It was a pleasant, comfortable stay with great service.

Putra Regency Hotel is a cheap, central place to stay if you’re not expecting much. We were there for two nights with our infant, and the strong air conditioning, free parking, affordable rate, and friendly, polite staff were real positives. Kangar town is right nearby, which made getting around easy. The room wasn’t clean when we checked in, especially the toilet, and housekeeping had missed basics like topping up toilet paper and tissues. With a baby, we were disappointed there was no cot. Parking is limited at busy times, and only two of the three lifts were working. Those lifts were very old and extremely slow. The hotel feels old throughout and really needs a full retrofit. For a three-star place, the cleanliness and attention to detail weren’t good enough. With upgraded facilities and more careful housekeeping, it could be much better.

The breakfast was nice, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is old, and so is the furniture, but I still think it’s worth staying there.

The restaurant is decent and the prices are reasonable. This is a basic hotel, probably the best option in Kangar, but the room’s aircon thermostat didn’t work. The location isn’t great if you want to be near the town centre.
