First Residence Hotel

The staff were so welcoming and polite, and everything went smoothly and quickly. The room was super clean, the price was affordable, and I had the best experience here. Definitely planning to stay again soon.

The location worked well for us, with eateries nearby and the wet and dry market selling traditional food only a few minutes away on foot. There was plenty of parking, though on weekdays you need to buy a coupon or risk a summons from the local authority. We arrived after 10 pm without a reservation and there were rooms available. Mr Din at reception was friendly and helpful, but we paid RM145 a night for a hotel in bad condition, which felt expensive. Our room's bathroom was clean, and the water heater and air conditioning worked well. The rest of the room was smelly, with dirty carpet, and the damp carpet smell stretched from the corridor into the room. Paint was peeling in several places. The windows didn't block sound and the curtains didn't keep out the sun. Fortunately, the main road was quiet because it was a public holiday. WIFI only worked in the lobby. The interior needs an upgrade soon. I don't know how management can seem not to care about the hotel's condition. This was our first and last stay here.

The only upside was the location across from hai Peng, near food stalls and 7-11. The rest felt nowhere near worth RM140 a night. For that price in KL, you can get a clean, comfortable stay with a lift. This place felt worth RM50 at most. I paid for a city view room but got one with no window. When I went downstairs to ask for a change based on what I'd paid, reception hadn't even checked the assigned room and didn't seem to care. The lobby sofa was old and worn. The lift sensor only worked when pressed with a thumb. There was a damp smell in the corridor and room, with poor ventilation, old dirty carpet, and peeling wallpaper in both areas. The basin drained more slowly than a man's pee. The heater seemed dated, so I was careful using it. The chair and table wobbled. The toilet was dirty, with yellow stains inside the bowl and around the seat. The towel looked dirty, so I bought my own and didn't dare use it. There was no clean toilet roll, so I used my own tissue paper. The room with a window is for a super heavy sleeper. Road noise went on until 3am and it got quiet around 5am. I didn't get any sleep, so I know the timing.

There's plenty of parking beside the hotel, and it's a good spot for food, with a kopotiam and other food courts within walking distance. The room was spacious, though mine had no window. The staff were friendly. WIFI was quite fast at 70mbps, but it wasn't reliable. Sometimes I connected but had no internet.
