Goldenhill Hotel

I checked in early but wasn’t told how check-out worked or what time it was. The staff member was rude and hung up the phone in the middle of our conversation.

The location is actually great, and the staff are friendly, which is why I gave it two stars. But the family room didn’t meet the standard it should. It’s no bigger than the other rooms, just with an extra mattress placed on the floor, and the floor was sandy and dirty.

The room had no hot water, bed bugs were a serious problem, and there weren’t enough power points to charge devices. The receptionist seemed to sleep all the time. When I checked in, I had to wake him on the lobby sofa; after waking, he stared at me for a few minutes and wouldn’t answer questions. At check-out he was still asleep and told me to leave the key on the reception desk. The customer service was very poor, and I was very disappointed. I hope the owner takes notice and acts on this. The hotel shouldn’t be advertised as being in good condition when it isn’t. The authorities need to take immediate action to help sustain tourism in Malaysia given conditions like these.

The night receptionist spent much of his time sleeping and wasn’t courteous with guests. Wi-Fi was extremely slow, and contractors were working at times when guests were likely to be resting. There was also a sudden power cut that left the room without electricity for 1-2 hours. The room itself was acceptable, but the air conditioner remote didn’t work, so I couldn’t control the temperature and had trouble sleeping. There was no water heater, and the TV barely functioned. The kettle was rusty and unhygienic. While I was trying to sleep, cleaning staff washed the window from outside, which disturbed me and should have been done at a more suitable time. With the lack of basic amenities, poor service, and repeated disturbances, I couldn’t relax or enjoy my stay. It was one of my worst experiences, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. Management should address these issues immediately.
