Besut Guesthouse

Room 9 had two big windows overlooking kampung houses and chickens wandering freely. The Malay village setting was peaceful, and the room and bed linen were very clean. The pillows had no smell, and the firm bed was comfortable. There was even a hair dryer. For the location, this guesthouse is hard to beat. It’s a short drive from Bukit Kelaung hiking trail and beach, and works well as an affordable base for exploring the area. The kitchenette has a kettle, microwave and fridge, and there’s also an iron, ironing board and washing machine. Across the road are the KopiThor espresso van for good coffee and a fruit stall. Kak Nurul was especially helpful with recommendations for things to do and places to eat in Besut and beyond. Highly recommended.

We found self check-in easy, and the room was clean with a comfy bed. The air con worked well, and the little kitchen area with a water dispenser was lovely. The ceiling fan was great too. When we checked out, a nice lady drove us to the jetty and got us a discount on the boat. There’s a temple nearby, so light sleepers might want earplugs. I slept with mine in and didn't hear it. It was a great stay, and I’d have stayed longer if we hadn't already booked an island trip.

The owner, Nurul, was quick to reply and very helpful throughout. She arranged our boat tickets and even drove us to the pier in the morning. The self check-in was straightforward, with clear instructions sent by WhatsApp beforehand, and the service was very friendly. We stayed one night before going to the Perhentian Islands. The rooms were clean and just right for a short stay. We arrived in the evening, and poor lighting around the area made the guesthouse a little tricky to locate, though a 7-Eleven is within walking distance. Good value, and I'd recommend it if you need a place before catching the boat to the Perhentians.
