The Orient Star Resort Lumut

The pool was a nice feature, with a kids’ pool, a medium one at 1.5m, and a deep one at 1.9m. It’s about a 300m walk from the parking lobby to the beach, though rooms closest to the sea would be nearer. The resort itself was okay, nothing fancy for a 3 star place. The room was all right but clearly old, with old rotan furniture and an older air conditioner whose remote is attached directly to the unit. Breakfast was just okay, with not much choice: nasi lemak, mee goreng, nasi goreng cina, wedges, sausege and other things.

I stopped at the cafe for a simple drink, but left with a bad impression. The iced milo was watery and tasteless, and the staff didn’t seem very friendly or attentive. Even the tablecloths smelled unpleasant. The hotel clearly needs maintenance and renovation.

It’s right by the jetty to pangkor island and close to shops and a bank. This is the biggest hotel in lumut. The building is old and has old furniture, but it’s maintained well. Breakfast was reasonably good, and dinner was ala carte at a reasonable price.

This is an extremely old, run-down hotel and nowhere near worth the price. I’d avoid it if possible. The breakfast was poor, and the food wasn’t fresh. Almost every socket in our room was dead, and the air conditioning was old and noisy. My friends in four other rooms had the same problems. When I asked to have a towel changed, they refused and said I had to pay for one. Amenities weren’t provided either, we had to ask staff to bring them. Avoid this lousy hotel unless it’s free.
