Hotel A-One

The room was tiny, but it worked well for a solo traveler who just needs a clean place to sleep and shower. It was one of the cleanest rooms I've stayed in. The location is easy to get around from, with train stations, shops, and a laundromat within walking distance. Good budget option.

For two months in Malaysia, I hadn't seen a room this spotless. It's a nice, clean place at a good budget price, even though the room is small. At least it doesn't smell damp, and traffic noise wasn't an issue. Everyone was friendly and polite. Finally, somewhere I could get good sleep during my last few days before heading home.

We liked it enough to add another day to our stay, and I'd come back. The location made it easy to explore Chinatown on foot, and there's a great stretch of street food stalls by the river near the mosque, about 100m away. Grab drivers may have trouble finding it because the block is closed to cars, so we had to tell them to stop at either end and walk around 50m. The staff were very friendly around the clock and made us feel at home. Our clean deluxe queen was on the third floor, with a street-facing window and very dark blackout curtains. The blankets were easy to fall asleep under for too long. The shower got nice and hot, though it took some adjusting each time to get the right pressure and temperature. The air conditioning was strong, with panel controls instead of a remote. Wi-Fi stayed connected, but was rarely faster than 5 mbps down. The TV was small and old, and didn't work well with the Chromecast we travel with.

There were lots of good places to visit nearby, and the rooms were very clean. Everyone at the hotel was kind and hospitable. It was a great stay, and I'd definitely consider coming back on my next trip to Malaysia.
